COOPERATIVE DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION HAS BEEN DELIVERED TO 50 KUMMUTA BY CRDB BANK
 

The Tanzania Cooperative Development Commission (TCDC) has been handed over 50 computers by CRDB Bank for accelerating the accountability of the Commission's staff in carrying out their day-to-day responsibilities including speeding up the processing of license applications and issuing them to Cooperative Societies. Savings and Credit (SACCOS) across the country.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Mr. Gerald Kusaya received the computers on behalf of the Government, today Thursday, December 31, 2020 in Dodoma in a short handover ceremony held at the offices of the Cooperative Development Commission where he said that, the Government has set various strategies to promote the Cooperative Sector in the country.
 

“It is an indisputable fact that one of the most important tools to help us get where we are headed is the proper use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) that uses computer systems. This technology is an alternative to the way in which the work was done in the past where various challenges were emerging such as delays in the registration of Cooperatives, loss of memory and poor record keeping, ”said Mr Kusaya.

In addition, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture has appointed the Registrar of Cooperatives and the Chief Executive of the Cooperative Development Commission, Dr. Benson Ndiege, to ensure that the computers provided by CRDB are distributed to staff as soon as possible and in the right order with the aim of improving the speed of operation, to ensure that these computers are properly maintained and used properly to achieve the intended objectives.

For his part, the Registrar and Chief Executive of the Tanzania Cooperative Development Commission, Dr. Benson Ndiege thanked CRDB Bank for continuing to work with the Tanzania Cooperative Development Commission in strengthening the Cooperative Sector as a whole.

“Tunaishukuru Benki ya CRDB kwa kutupatia Vitendea kazi kwenye shughuli zetu za kila siku ambapo wameamua kutusaidia kompyuta 50 ili zitusaidie katika kutekeleza majukumu yetu ya kujenga na kuimarisha Uchumi wa Nchi kwa lengo la kuunga mkono juhudi za Serikali katika kuendeleza ushirika nchini," alisema Dkt. Ndiege

Dkt. Ndiege amesema Tume ina majukumu makubwa mawili ambayo ni Uhamasishaji, Udhibiti na Usimamizi wa Vyama vya Ushirika. Eneo moja wapo la Usimamizi ni ukaguzi wa mara kwa mara wa vyama vya ushirika. Hata hivyo, vyama vinavyokaguliwa ni asilimia 31 tu, kutokana na changamoto ya ukosefu wa Vitendea kazi ikiwemo kompyuta na vyombo vya usafiri. Kutolewa kwa kompyuta hizi kutatatua baadhi ya changamoto.

Akiongea katika makabidhiano hayo, Mwakilishi wa Benki ya CRDB, Prosper Nambaya, amesema kuwa Benki hiyo imekuwa mstari wa mbele katika kufufua Ushirika kwa kuongeza mitaji ili kuhuisha na kuujenga Ushirika imara ambapo Benki inatoa mchango mkubwa kwa wanaushirika kupitia mafunzo na misaada ya vifaa muhimu vya kufanyia kazi kama vile kompyuta.

“Tunatoa wito na kuvikaribisha vyama vyote vya ushirika nchini kujiunga na Benki ya CRDB ili viweze kujikwamua kiuchumi na kupata mazingira wezeshi kwenye sekta zote za kiuchumi. Katika mwaka wa fedha wa 2019/20, Benki ya CRDB imetoa jumla ya mikopo ya kilimo ya Shilingi 650 Bilioni sawa na asilimia 40 ya mikopo yote ya kilimo nchini Tanzania,” alisema Nambaya.

Of the CRDB loans provided, Shs. 495 Billion has been directed towards major strategic crops thus helping more than AMCOS 472 to obtain loans to increase productivity in agricultural production (input loans, warehouses, construction of processing plants, loans for of livestock projects, investment in forests and its products as well as investment in fisheries).

In addition, Mr. Nambaya said smallholder farmers through Cooperatives are connected to a strong financial system through the established CRDB Bank network. The farmer can access financial services through CRDB Agencies, mobile phones thus building a habit of saving through simple services available up to rural areas.
